Rediscovering My Artistic Roots: A Personal Journey of Regenesis

The Early Days of Unconscious Creativity
During the 1990s, my school books and random pieces of paper became unintentional repositories of intricate abstract 'squiggles'. These weren't deliberate drawings, but rather spontaneous expressions that emerged during moments of distraction; while daydreaming or chatting on the phone. Each 'squiggle' was a fragment of my subconscious, manifesting itself without conscious intent.

The Last Piece Before Hibernation
My final artistic piece in this style before a long hiatus was "Lachrymal” in 1999; a CD cover for a music track by a Nepalese artist named Baba.

Reflecting on the Artistic Pause
I can't definitively explain why I stopped creating art, but I suspect my focus on higher education and subsequent career in advertising and academia gradually pushed my artistic inclinations to the background.
The Rekindling of Creativity

In 2024, Julie Samuels became the unexpected spark that reignited my artistic inclinations. She invited me to participate in an art exhibition that she was organizing, and also became the catalyst for revisiting my long-forgotten artistic style.

Regenesis: A Symbolic Rebirth
I've begun this journey with a few small pieces, each approximately 7cm square. I've dubbed this project "Regenesis" - symbolizing a rebirth of my artistic exploration. In addition, I am also also creating my own custom virtual gallery to house these initial pieces.

The Therapeutic Essence of Creation
There's a profound difference between my digital professional work and these spontaneous drawings. While I am also incorporating digital elements, these analog pieces offer a therapeutic freedom that digital work cannot replicate. They feel like a pure, unfiltered representation of my inner essence.

Looking Forward
"Regenesis" isn't a finite project but an ongoing exploration. I'm excited to see where this artistic journey will lead and hope that others will find meaning and beauty in these personal, spontaneous creations.
Each squiggle, each line is a piece of my story - unplanned, unfiltered, and wonderfully authentic.
